This page answers how we turn provider catalogues into the cost of your trip instead of an abstract brand rating. Our standard cases represent a week, a fortnight, and a month with increasing data needs. You choose the case nearest to your travel dates and expected consumption; the pipeline then asks what must actually be purchased to satisfy both conditions, rather than comparing unrelated headline bundles.

The weekly data pipeline

Our weekly price snapshot begins with official provider pages in a consistent web-checkout locale and display currency. Tariff rows capture the offer as published: provider, destination, plan name, allowance model, validity, price, link precision, and observation time. Trip-cost rows apply the scenario rules and retain the qualifying purchase. A qualifying plan or combination must meet the required duration and data; an undersized product cannot win by appearing inexpensive. Validation quarantines malformed or stale slices without allowing one bad provider-destination record to rewrite unrelated comparisons. The build then sorts eligible rows, renders the dated tables, and publishes the same canonical inputs in downloadable form.

Provenance and freshness

Every rendered number comes from a canonical row with a trace identifier, and the build manifest records the identifiers used by each page. This applies to money, allowances, counts, and dates rather than only the headline verdict. Freshness is separated by data class. Price and tariff observations carry the commerce fetch date; fair-use statements carry their policy-source check date; declared-network mappings carry their own source check date. The date beside each scenario table therefore describes its price evidence, while another date may legitimately accompany policy or network material. Page-level links are marked because they open a product family, requiring the reader to select the matching variant. Checkout may differ through localized currency, taxes, merchandising, or promotion volatility.

Fair-use evidence levels

Unlimited means the seller does not present an ordinary total-data counter; it does not mean unrestricted full-speed use. We extract daily full-speed ceilings from provider-controlled sources and expose potential throttling after the threshold. Evidence is graded from plan-specific wording, through written support material or a destination policy, down to generic language and unknown support. Plan-specific evidence directly identifies the offer. Support-written evidence documents an answer supplied in writing. Destination-policy evidence applies at the market level but may cover several plans. Generic evidence describes a broader rule without a firm product tie. Unknown means a usable threshold was not established. “Fair-use not verified” is attached to the weaker cases, which remain visible but cannot become the calculated winner.

What the comparison does not measure

Travel eSIM retailers may use the same host carrier while differing in price, packaging, activation, replenishment, fair-use controls, and support. We reproduce networks declared by providers; this is not independent route verification or a reception promise. Our model is not compared on: hotspot policy, 5G access, KYC, activation start, refund terms. Those fields can still matter to you and should be checked in the current plan terms. Install before departure in accordance with the seller’s instructions. A carrier-unlocked, eSIM-compatible handset is required.

Methodology questions

Why use scenarios instead of price per unit?

A unit rate can reward a plan that expires too soon or forces unnecessary volume. Scenario cost answers the more concrete question of what you must buy for the whole stay.

How are ties handled?

Rows within the defined comparison tolerance are labeled as ties, and the prose does not break them with subjective quality claims. The rendered table applies that rule consistently.

Why can the source dates differ?

Commercial prices, policy wording, and declared-network mappings change on separate schedules. Dating each class preserves what was observed and avoids implying that an older policy was freshly rechecked with every price.

Does provenance prove real-world performance?

No. Provenance proves where a published datum came from and when it was observed. It does not transform provider declarations into independent field measurements.
